Service Disruption near Ayer, MA – Ingate Closures
In an effort to proactively minimize backlog and congestion in the Chicago <> Ayer lane, and to help expedite terminal and network throughput following the restoration of service, the following ingate closures are announced:
Effective 5:00pm local, the ingate at Ayer will close to all shipments to include empty EMP returns, and the ingate at Chicago 63rd Street will close to all shipments billed to Ayer.
Our rail partner, Genesee & Wyoming, has advised they now expect the route into Ayer to remain inaccessible until Saturday, September 16th. Following the restoration of service, the Ayer and Chicago 63rd Street ingates will re-open as soon as operations allow. As a reminder, the route into Ayer was closed following multiple washouts that occurred on Monday, September 11th.
We are actively monitoring Hurricane Lee, and based on weather forecasts, the storm is expected to begin impacting portions of the Northeast later this week.
