The flooding of the Mississippi and Grand rivers continue to impact train operations to and from Kansas City. The latest update from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) states that flood conditions are expected through the first week of June as rainfall is expected in areas with already saturated ground. The Norfolk Southern Engineering Department continues to assess the condition of our rail network and will work to restore train operations as soon as it is safe to do so.
All origin-facility ingates remain closed to shipments billed to Kansas City and the ingate to Kansas City also remains closed. Until service is restored, customers should continue to expect severe delay on all shipments awaiting movement to or from Kansas City. The Kansas City outgate remains open and we ask that customers make every attempt to outgate shipments from the facility to help create parking capacity and increase terminal fluidity.
All closures will remain in place until conditions improve.
